I dunno how many of you read Penny Arcade regularly, but today there is quite the raucous drama surrounding the web comic.

Last week Miami "lawyer" Jack Thompson, a man who is attempting to make his career by being as belligerent as possible towards the videogame industry as a whole, put a challenge out to developers everywhere that he would donate $10,000 to the charity of choice of the head of Take Two Interactive (Parent company of Rock Star who made GTA: San Andreas, a particular target of Jack's fury) if one of them was to release a game based on his own concept. In this vile little idea of his, the player takes on the role of the enraged parent of a video-game-tainted youth, and proceeds to kill video game executives, designers, and even retail associates selling the games.

get the whole "proposal" here.

Well the dudes at Penny Arcade took exception to this, calling him on his hypocricy and have been involved in somewhat of a dialogue with the attorney for the past few days, mostly consisting of him throwing childish jibes at them.

Then as it happens, today it came forward that there had been quite the response in the modder community, his idea being developed and released in record time by independent devopers all over the place. At this point he mocked them ever more, saying that his "Modest proposal" as he called it had just been satire in order to make his point. The folks needing that $10,000 must have been rolling in the aisles.

So what happens? Jerry and Mike from PA step up and donate that 10 grand in his name.

There is shit-eating justice in the world.

You can follow all the wonder in the last two days of PA news posts.
