I thought joe was visiting a Unitarian Universalist church? Since every chapter of the UU is made up of different people, the emphasis of their theology/teaching is different. Some churches are more conservative, aligning with the Universalist's roots as an offshoot of Chrisitan fundamintalism in the 1920's, while others are little more than a book club for atheists.

I understand the concept of the UU thing, but from my own experience and anyone I've met who has been to one, Christian theology really never gets discussed. It appears there is a place for every way of thinking and believing EXCEPT Christianity.
Besides, I was under the impression that the Pheonix Church is not a UU congregation but a totally different thing, a Christian church that accepts LGBT people.

Cowardly bear.
Theology? Poor bear, yes, in Christian churches there is such a thing. Glad you are making friends, though, and hopefully good quality ones.
