A Quick Appearance

So, with the end of summer I have made my usual disappearance into the dark hole that consists of working a fulltime job and teaching six math courses at the community college. I had every intention of cutting back on my teaching this fall. However, enrollment jumped again and they were in need, especially since I am one of the only instructors they have that can teach the upper level math courses that are offered. I teach classroom courses on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thur evening and Sat morning, plus I have the two online courses. It basically means all I do during the week is work, teach, and sleep, and then on the weekends I teach and correct papers. I enjoy the teaching a lot, but it does get to be a drain. When you're sixty-one, the batteries don't recharge as quickly. :)

I have made a promise to myself that every weekend I will take some time out for relaxation, no matter what. Last night I went to see a local theater group who were putting on a production of Altar Boyz. It is a good-natured spoof of boy bands and Christian pop music. The show itself is very enjoyable. The dialogue and song lyrics are humorous and clever. The biggest drawback was that, since this is a local production, only two of the five actors had strong voices. The other three had frequent pitch problems and trouble being heard (even with mics). I still had a great time, but it left me wanting to see a true professional production of the show.

So that's it for now. Today will be spent with one eye on football-NASCAR-golf and the other eye on trigonometry tests that have to be graded. I'll be back sooner or later. :)
