This is my last weekend of freedom before the Fall Semester begins at Ivy Tech and my life devolves into a cycle of working, teaching, and sleeping. I am teaching six courses again this semester, and there are a couple of big projects just picking up steam at my regular job, so rest and relaxation will be at a minimum for the next sixteen weeks.
My last splurge was to travel over to Newark, Ohio on Saturday to meet my cousin Carol for shopping. Truth be told, it was mainly to pick up something I had seen and liked at the Longaberger Homestead last Thanksgiving, but had failed to purchase. Carol checked to make sure they still had it, so I met her and we visited the Homestead, and I am now the proud owner of a figurine of the Seven Dwarfs crossing a log on their way home from the mine. :)
I also have to include the obligatory photo of the big basket at the Homestead.
On my way over to Newark, I was able to stop at Max and Erma's in Columbus for some really delicious food, and also to have the multi-talented
jtwill84 as my server. It was very enjoyable to finally meet him and say hello.
Following the shopping and a quick cook-out with Carol and her family, I headed back into Columbus to attend the Columbus Crew soccer game against DC United. It was a beautiful evening to be sitting outdoors enjoying soccer, even if the Crew's 2-0 loss was less than exciting. I stayed overnight in Columbus, and then drove on home this morning. I'll take care of a few odds and ends this evening in order to be prepared for the onslaught tomorrow.
