"Its been a while" - as a beardy, gravel-voiced fuck-tard once said. And he was right, it has been a while. I have no idea how long because I'm not very good at maths.
Well there have been some goings on in the last week that-lets face it-were bloody horrible. The bombs ('oh yeah we really thought they were power surges'-London Underground) are probably going to be the most memorable event of the year (atleast) and it felt odd actually being part of the story for once. When you see these things going on in the US, it seems so very distant and the more it happens in other places the more untouchable you feel, until a day like Thursday when-whoosh-the attention of the world is focussed on (the mainly rather seedy areas of) London.
Now lets not mention religion, any link to Islam is retarded. Basically big old influential men are brainwashing simple teenagers into blowing up themselves and others. As far as I know, thats anti pretty much every religion in the world.
Good on London for throwing their middle fingers in the air and trundling (is that a word) in to work the next day looking slightly disheveled but ever so detirmined. I was at home on Friday but I was on the Underground in spirit.
I've read some rather worrying things on the internet about how it looks like this was a warning of whats to come during the Olympics, and I have to say given the timing this seems pretty likely. Lets hope the Police (and all the Jack Bauers of the country) can keep doing their jobs amazingly well and do their best. I know the people of this strange little country we live in are very brave and it'd take a hell of a lot more than a few bombs to keep people in their homes.
By the way, I hope noone reading this had any family/friends caught up in it.
Anyway, on to other important developments of the last week:
Job: Hopefully I'll be having my second interview for the Smash Hits! job this coming week so with me luck and I might get Kenzie's autograph for you if I get the job. Then again I might sell it on Ebay to make up the loss of salary. Maybe I'll get him to sign two things.
Olympics: Why? No Londoners back it, so what happens? Oh lets just throw a few billion pounds of Londoner's council tax at it and hope for the best. Yay WE WON! Oh piss off Ken, you might be good at your Churchill impersonations but lets face it, everyone hates you.
Big Bro: Well who'd of thought the shagging pair would be voted out. I mean clearly they didn't help each other with the racism and hatred towards all the housemates (apart from the most thick and malleable). Now we have the most culturally diverse Big Brother house ever which hopefully will mean we might get someone a bit different winning this year, who knows, maybe even a woman!
Live8: Yeah its a bit late but I think its worth a mention, especially as now it is being completely forgotten about because of terrorism. It was a good day, it would have been good if something had been achieved by it. Unfortunately I think it was too little too late (sorry Sir Bob, I know you did your best, even performing a classic from your immense back catalogue of hits) and seems to have achieved nothing. Apparently, if everything goes exactly to plan at the Summit, we will have 37000 people dying per day in 2112 as opposed to 50000. Now call me cynical but surely more could be achieved than that. We have an amazing amount of people willing to help in any way and it seems the polititians are putting their fingers in their ears and 'la la'ing. I think the most worrying aspect of it is that Boner and Bob are bumlicking the politicians and each other with glee and saying they are happy with what has been achieved when I thought all along we were trying to irradicate suffering in Africa not just limit it. Shall we sit at home grinning for the 37000 people dying a day because we saved 13000? Hmmm.
Right this was all rather serious so expect the usual crap to resume in my next post. Also I don't expect people to bother with it because of its length and girth. I am talking about my post.
So people. Stay safe and I hope I'll see you all soon.
Joe
