Spring has Sprung

It's been a helluva long time since I've updated my journal. Too long I think. A lot has happened in the past couple of months, moving was probably the biggest event. I've finally settled in to the new place, and I'm loving every minute of it! Living downtown is definitely everything I thought it was going to be. What I wasn't expecting was for it to be as quiet as it is. I got home quite late from the bar last night, and when I was trying to go to sleep around 5:00am, it was so quiet that I could hear the birds chirping outside. Right next to my building on the side that I live on is a big park, which helps the noise level a lot, but on the other sides of my building are the Dunsmuir Viaduct (a highway basically), GM Place (our hockey arena/primary concert venue), BC Place (65,000 seat stadium), and a lot of other condos and businesses (including a Cinemark Tinseltown). So the potential for a lot of noise is there. I'm glad it hasn't materialized though. Time will tell however what's in store when the Olympics roll into town.

Petie (my dog) is adjusting pretty well to the move. He was a little bit stressed out when we first got here, evident from the messes I had to clean up after him. However, with the park right next to our building, there are a LOT of dogs out there playing. Petie loves going out there twice a day to run around and play with the other dogs in the park. I'm starting to get to know the dogs and their owners by name, and of course, my dog is so popular that everyone knows Petie when he comes running up. I don't know if it's his cuteness or his friendly demeanor, but I'm happy he's such a well-socialized dog.

I'm looking forward to being done with school in just four short weeks. It seems like only yesterday that I was starting this program and looking forward to the potential that it held. However, with the current economic crisis playing out, prospects in the Hospitality Industry aren't so rosy. However I'm still committed to the industry, and I'm fortunate that I have a job that's relatively stable right now at a restuarant that's doing pretty well, all things considered. The next four weeks are going to be busy as hell though, so I'm not looking forward to it particularly.

In anticipation of our trip to San Francisco, my friends and I have started attending "Phat Kamp", as we like to call it. Really though, it's just the six of us working out together, either at the gym in my building or the gym in my friend Colin's building. My gym is better though, because I have the pool and hot tub as well, whereas Colin only has the gym and a sauna at his place. We're determined to look alright for San Fran tho. I'm determined to look good for more than just San Francisco, but whatever motivates is a good thing.

Anyways, I've lost my train of thought, so I'll stop there. But I'll hopefully be posting more as I think of it...

Ciao!
