No earthquakes felt here in Wisconsin.

Had a good time this past weekend. Friday Jessica worked while I was at home, but that afternoon we saw four more houses. One was totally not for us, but also totally interesting to see. It's an old ranch-style house a block off of a big street. The woman who used to live there moved to a nursing home in the past few years. It seems as if nothing in her house had been bought new since 1975 with most of it being older than that. It was as if I were in a house like I remember my grandparent's being when I was four years old. The smell of everything and the orange and green colors for most things, the style of clocks on the tables and fruit basket on the dining table. There was an old roller treadmill which was just a long strip of fabric wrapped around an inclined bed of rollers. There was also a wringer-washer in the basement, too. The best part was that everything seemed in really good condition. The kicker was in the kitchen there were spices with retro-looking labels. I picked up the oldest and saw (c) McCormick 1971.

There was another house that was on a corner of the block and had no closets at all that we could see, so that was also a no. There were two that we liked, but one of them was clearly a better value than the other in price, though I initially liked the pricier one better, the nearly as good but better value house is now at the top of our house list.

Saturday I went with Jessica to her office to keep her company while she worked. I had some stuff to do for the astronomy society, so I kept myself busy. That evening we met a couple for dinner, Dan and Beth. Jessica met Dan at a university meeting and suggest we meet for dinner. We're always trying to find people our age to socialize with as all the ice skaters are under 18 and all the active members of the astronomical society are mostly over 50. We meet them at Dragonetti's for dinner and had pizzas. It was a pleasant dinner and we ended up talking from 7 p.m. to 10 when they closed and went back to their place until nearly 1 a.m. or so. They're both CS majors though Beth teaches a math class as a lecturer. They also play a lot of Wii, so next time we'll have a Wii party.

Sunday was the first spring-feeling day in Eau Claire this year. It got up into the 70s (just about St. Louis weather!), so we took our bikes out for the first trip of the season. However, I made sure to avoid going down the giant hill because I didn't want to kill my legs on the first time out. Then we went for ice cream, but Nelson had just closed, so I got a Klondike bar from the gas station. Then we cleaned the car which hadn't been done in over eight months, so that was a needed job. I thought about grilling, but it was already dinner time and we had nothing to grill, so I'll do that tomorrow for lunch when Jessica gets back from the university.
