Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!

Happy new year to all!

Jessica and I enjoyed a nice new year's eve at home. We had some fondue which turned out better than the last time I made fondue. This was from a pack, but imported from Switzerland and quite good. We had champagne after midnight and read Calvin & Hobbes before going to sleep.

It snowed an inch or two last night, so the pine garland we have on the railing outside looked good with the snow and the lights. Around noon we went for a walk down the street where a sledding hill is. I suppose there was just enough snow because there were a number of kids on sleds. Over that hill was a geocache that we found and we circled back around and through the cemetery before coming back home.

In January of last year I put up a poll to allow LJers to prognosticate on what would come in the year 2006. Here are the results below:
jabberwocky -- Some country like Mexico or Portugal or Brazil or something like that will win the World Cup of soccer.

It was actually Italy, so though it was a romance-language speaking nation, the head of the nail was missed a bit there.

pieholdensuite -- Americans will continue to buy crap that they don't need.

That was was pretty much a gimmie.
sourisverte -- I'll finish my dissertation!

I believe you would had if it had not been for certain parties who shall go unnammed.

jodamiller -- Technology will march towards the eventual outcome of being able to watch any movie from the comfort of your toilet.

Well, duh!

mapjunkie -- I predict that the number of predictions will decrease in rate over time throughout the year

Indeed, for they came just about all at once.

tastee -- You and Jessica will get new jobs.

If you consider being unemployed a new job, then you were spot-on!

hussla -- I predict that by December of 2006, no one will care about Kelly Clarkson anymore.

Well, "Kelly Clarkson" gets "about 3,660,000" hits on Google, and a search on Google news shows an article from just nine hours ago with a reference to her name. So, I think people care less, but definitely not "no one...anymore". I wonder if hussla will ever see this...
