F-list Housecleaning

Sep 27, 2008 10:12

I suspect that no one who actually reads this will be affected, but I'm going to do some housecleaning on my f-list. I'm currently watching a whole bunch of people that are folks in the gaming industry that I don't actually know, people I found who I used to know casually, and some just random folks I met through communities. I'm getting too much. I'm info-cleaning all over the place; my news feeds are also out of control, as is the deliberate spam (ie, advertising I signed up for) to my gmail account, etc, etc. There's one high volume community I want to keep (cross_stitch ) , so I think I need to be ruthless with the others. This is pretty typical for me; I join a ton of stuff and then cut way back to just the things I really like.

One thing that's influencing me is that after watching the presidential debate last night, I'm just...tired...of politics. I'm getting cranky and bitchy and...hard...every time something political comes up and that's not the person I want to be anymore. This fall is also shaping up to be busy, I'm stressed over getting new clients for work, I want to find a house before prices become artifically inflated again or I can't get a loan, etc, etc. So, I need to take control of the pieces within my grasp and close up the firehose of information to a more manageable flow
