I love my mom, I really do. So, since her birthday was Wednesday, I wanted to bring her her favorite cake, Wegmans' "Ultimate Chocolate Cake." We had gone out for brunch the Sunday before, which was quite good, but no birthday cake, since it was a buffet. Anyway, usually Wegmans makes a mini cake, which I figured would be perfect given that we'd shortly have a ton of cookies and such around for Christmas anyway. Nope, they don't make the little one around the holidays. Only the big one. Which costs $17.50! Wow. There's a racket for you. I mean, it's a really good chocolate cake, but there's nothing fancy about it, you know? I guess if the market will bear it, which it obviously will, since I bought the darn thing. Which, btw, I'm now eating a slice of. Normally, I wouldn't take Mom's birthday cake from her, but she wouldn't let me mooch any of the Christmas cookies we had just spent the afternoon baking! Meh! :)
