why I rec this: Sometimes there are fics that touch me deeper than any kind of fiction really should. These stories manage to get accross emotional states and hang-ups that would be really hard to explain otherwise. Dukedom Large Enough, an older H/D fic, was my number one of those kinds of fics until now. But after reading Maybe The Seaside Is The Place these two fics will have to share that place. Colin's actions, his logic, his fears and convictions, his decisions in this story - they are all so achingly familiar. And in a strange, cathartic way I felt so much better after reading this - as if watching Colin work through it healed me a bit as well. ♥
