Work, cleaning, and Nano

Work
It was hard, and it was sluggish, and I'll admit that there was a nap somewhere--but, all in all, I think I pulled off an admirable effort in actually working on the first day back from a long holiday. I actually want to get done with the bulk of whatever's on my plate before NaNo starts, so that was a big motivator. I'm still procrastinating on the actual testing of my program, though. Hopefully, I've made a deal with my colleague to exchange projects for the testing stage; it's always better to have a fresh pair of eyes/hands to do the overall test, anyway.

Cleaning
It took a little bit of orange juice spilled on my desktop's keyboard to prompt me into "fixing up" my desktop area. I removed the old plastic wrap (there were holes in it), wiped down the keyboard and then found some soft plastic wrap to wrap up the keyboard again. I was so pleased that I decided to wrap my keyboard table top, which led to deciding that I should "decorate" the stained table top before wrapping. And then I went and placed another plastic wrap on the front part of the computer itself. I've been meaning to do all this for a long, long while now.. and heh! all it took was a little orange juice.

I had to use the laptop's webcam to take these pictures because my digital camera is on a fritz; so, apologies for the grainy quality.

Right: I'm not sure if you can see it, but the keyboard is actually wrapped in plastic. The colorful background underneath the keyboard is the top of my make-shift keyboard table. I tore out some old calendar pictures, and with the help of my mom and sis, we made a litlte collage to cover how ugly the table had actually become. After that, we put a plastic wrap on top.

I got so into "protecting" everything, that I used the left-over plastic to cover the front part of my computer table... After I'd "scrubbed" it clean, of course. I'm hopeful now that everything has been "plastic'd", cleaning will be much, much easier!

Left: Here's a "better" (heh) view of the collage my sister, my mom and I settled on. I didn't trust myself to cut up the pretty pictures into different shapes for a proper collage.. but I think it ended up looking okay. And should I get tired of the design, I can always lift up the plastic and rearrange the pictures again.

[ Intermission : Pain in the Bum ]
Friends and family members have been 'gently' encouraging me to go get the pain-in-the-bum checked out by the doctor's. I've been cautious, doing my stretches, etc, and the pain-in-the-bum is now sometimes-pain-down-the-left-leg-or-sometimes-pins-and-needles-down-the-left-leg. Sometimes the tingling gets almost painful. I'm convinced it's a nerve being pinched, that it's healing (albeit very, very slowly), and mostly--I don't have much confidence with my doctors. But my parents are telling me I should get it checked out.. so, yeah. Tomorrow... or the day after that--No, not Wednesday. That's November 1. Erm.. this week. Sometime. *shifty look*

...and NaNo
So, yes, about NaNo. I mentioned I killed my plot. Now, I'm trying to coax it to reincarnate itself. I had good intentions today and yesterday to do just that-- unfortunately, time slipped away both times, 'cause lookie it's almost 1AM! And I didn't even finish forum catchup today! *sighs* I miss keeping up with the forums--things are moving so darn fast. Ah well.

I really do hope the ideas I had yesterday are still percolating in my head, and hopefully I can get some time to write 'em down, sort them out, and be in that can-I-start-now?-now?-Now?-NOW?! mode just in time for the start of NaNo. I'm getting jealous of the people who are just bouncing/itching to start; I want some of that energy, too! But anyways--I don't think I'll be starting at midnight. *chews lip* I'll try to get a good night's sleep, go to work like a good girl, and then rush back home and have a panic attack or two and try to pound out 1.6K words. Right.
