My mom. You got to love her. Otherwise, you'll go nuts.
So, since my mom doesn't have internet at home, I had to buy airplane tickets for her online (she's going to go visit her friend in Arizona...which I am so GLAD she's finally doing. The woman never gets out!) and now I had to print out the email to mail to her! The letter I wrote said the following:
"Mom, Here's your ticket information. I find it kind of ironic that I have to send an email to you through snail mail (what us in the 21st century call the USPS!). What's more, I send so few letters that I have no more stationery. I believe a year ago I trew what wa left in the recycle bin. Ha!
"Well, this pen is hurtin my hand, so I'll end this 'letter' thing now!"
I'm not a horrible daughter for making fun of my mom, am I? Actually, we have this kind of back and forth all the time, and it's all good natured. ;)
Anyway, now that I have a real job, I'm seriously considering buying her a NEW computer for her birthday in September. She keeps taking people's used old computers for free that barely work. And Cory suggested that we also pay for her internet. She'd only need dialup. This is what I was thinking:
The
17-inch Apple iMac. It's $999.00, but I can get a $100 education discount. I can also get her a new printer. Right now there's a $100 rebate on printers with purchase through Apple, and they always seem to have some sort of offer like this.
Earthlink dialup. We get DSL from them, and they give you a month free for a referal! :P It's $14.95/month with a 1 year contract. Otherwise it's $21.95/month. I like the service we get, so I figure it would be good for mom.
I'll just wait to see how finances are and maybe make the purchase in August. If I buy online, I can have it shipped for free!
