'tis the title of my vocal performance in my final Mustard Seed show last night (a rare combination of Hendrix's Purple Haze, and the lyrics to Amazing Grace). The entire story, however, really begins a long long time ago (that would be Thursday), far far away (approximately 5 miles), in a little section of town built around Euclid and Moreland, generally referred to as "Little 5 Points". This section of the city caters to, shall we say, a very "interesting" group of people - not exactly my customary hangout. My relatives from New York happen to be in town, so cousin Sarah, Jason, and I trek the 10 minute drive down to Little 5 Points, walk around, venture into several stores, merely to discover the pricing to be detestable. Following that, the three of us journeyed Starbucks, and then the Salvation Army off Marietta St. There, I purchased a shirt for the concert for $2.99... God bless the Salvation Army. We ate at Felini's, and then went back to my house to futilely attempt to coerce Jason and Mom into watching Run, Lola, Run, a German flick representing three possible outcomes of a certain 20-minute timespan (note: Sarah and I had previously seen it).
Katie and I met up early on Friday, and spent most of the day together. At her house, I had the distinct "pleasure" of viewing Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Aside from Dude, Where's My Car, I don't believe such a loathsome work of film exists. The only remotely humorous parts involved mispronunciations of historical figures, but, alas, a movie can only use that so many times. Perhaps the most annoying quality was the characteristic "dude-speak"... again, how frequently can the same idiosyncrasy be used and still have comedic value?
We (by which I mean Katie and me) arrived at Faith Community Church in Grayson (the venue for this particular performance) at approximately 6:00, 1.5 hours preceeding the opening song. I personally think the show went well, though various band members have differing opinions. Katie was outstanding, particularly in the songs with just her and me. I did fairly well, with room for improvement... but Amazing Haze and I'm So Afraid (my main two songs) were excellent, I think. Anyway, Dustin was kind enough to tape the show on my camera, so I've posted some of the better songs on my website at

The interaction on stage was good too, especially between Katie and me (imagine that... almost like we enjoyed looking at each other :)). I attempted to appear a bit more lively tonight than in previous shows, seeing as that's often noted as something on which we need improvement. At some point during the concert, I whispered into Katie's ear that I loved her... I think she liked that :) I was glad to see Natty and Isaiah were able to come as well... Isaiah and I spoke for about 30 minutes about economics and forign policy after the concert. Afterward, Katie, Dustin, Corey, Jenn, and I went to Steak 'n Shake for a post-concert dinner, then Dustin brought me home.
