I went upstairs to go see if mom needed anything. (Yeah, I'm that kind of daughter and I still get called ungrateful and inconsiderate...*sigh*) She had me fetch the Bible from the bathroom and she had me read a chapter from Psalms.

She had me to do this because she couldn't understood how I could be friends with someone (she was referring to my friend, Steph) when our beliefs were so different from each other...

yeah, she thought I may have been swayed towards not believing in the Bible or God anymore.

That really hurt. Like that cut me to the core. Four years. Four FRIGGIN YEARS. Defending myself, getting into arguments with people over certain things based on religion and my beliefs. She thinks I just through it away.

Thanks, Mom. Thanks for thinking that I'm so easily persuaded. That makes me feel so good inside. I don't believe this.

Thanks Mom.
You know what that says?! "Jackie, you're not very strong and you're very gullible."

AWESOME.

perhaps a movie meme to re-focus my anger...
Day 01 - The best movie you saw during the last year

Last year? District 9.

Easily the BEST movie I saw last year. Hurt Locker my BUTT. District 9 should have won Best Picture. It was original. This entire film is an allegory and I LOVE IT. The dialogue, the setting, the plot, the themes behind it, the acting was just AMAZING. It's nothing like you expected from the trailers. It's so much better than that.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. We're told about racism in Africa from time to time and ALL OF THE TIME, in the United States (whether or it, it's actually racism), but never like this. I love stories that tell you a lot about the kinds of people that inhabit this world in ways that you wouldn't have thought about otherwise. Neill Blomkamp, you WIN! :D

If I also might add, you HATE the main actor. You HATE his character throughout this entire film and you almost feel bad for him. I mean, you REALLY do. After he has been helped, he doesn't want to help others. Ugh, so true of human nature. You're rooting for the aliens by the end of this film. How many films make you do that?! Not many.
