What Maisie Knew: Good, I guess? I enjoyed it although pieces of it were pretty heavy-handed. Was that because Henry James's original was, or was that a function of the adaptation? Also: ASkars playing with a child is cute but not as ovary rattling as tumblr claims. And another thing: I thought he looked better in his bartender suit and brushed back hair than shaggy and in jeans that made his ass disappear.
Star Trek: Into Darkness -- not impressed. Okay, it was loud and had a lot of effects but the fight scenes went on too long; Kirk was a petulant brat; Spock's "Khan!" was awful; Uhura, McCoy, and Scottie were wasted. More John Cho as Captain Sulu, please?
Clybourne Park at Center Stage: funny and painful, all at once. It made me think about the gentrification of my old neighborhood, which was less about race than money and geographic origin (old south Baltimore, very blue collar vs. yuppie), and about my new neighborhood and the surrounding area.
Coming soon to the independent theater nearby: Dirty Wars, The East, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Kings of Summer. And the WikiLeaks documentary. So much good stuff, so little time.
