First Half Of Summer In LA.. Not Too Shabby :)

Jun 26, 2007 12:27

Ok must update. Man so much happens in one week.

I'll start with last Thursday, and I know Im forgeting a lot of things which sucks. Thats whyu I should update this thing much more often.

THURSDAY:
I started working at Pie Town on Designed to Sell. Everyones really nice there. I spent the day in the office watching episodes to get an idea of Lisa (the designers) style. Everyone was great and so excited to meet me. There was a rumor going around that I went to Emerson.. I guess they got confused with my sister. Great day.

THURSDAY NIGHT:
I saw Hairspray like way before it's hitting theaters. It was this special museum event. I guess every 3rd Thursday of the month this museum turns into this nightclub thing. We saw the movie and got out at like 10? and walked around the inner court of the museum, which is outdoors but inclosed. Dan Flavin who does experiment art with lights (we have one of his at the RISD museum) was there giving a talk that night. You could see his lighting display and there was a band and lots of drinks. The place turned into this crazy nightclub with tons of people smoking and drinking in this huge courtyard thing. No one was looking at the art- it was pretty insulting and sad that the museum had to pretend to be a nightclub to get people to come, and they dont even go into the part where you look at the art. They had these weird dancers walking around in costume. IT was weird. So we go to leave and the line to get in goes all the way down the street and people were yelling they were on the VIP list.. it was like the front door of Hyde.. only busier. I had work the next day so Erica and I left around 11 (plus we hadn't had dinner).

FRIDAY:
I went to Pie Town again and I meet up with a worker Paul. Together we drove to this warehouse place to get the furniture to bring to the set. We had fun.. got a little lost but it was fun. We got to the set at 1/2pm and the second I walk through the house/set I immediately get something in my eye and it will not come out. So my eye wouldnt stop tearing for the rest of the day. I must have looked crazy. It finally game out at 9:30 Friday night.Anyways, I got to work with Lisa LaPort (sp?) the designer on the show. She was so sweet and she would ask my opinion. The crew guys were really sweet and asked me all sorts of questions. If the eye thing hadnt happened it would have been a perfect day. It kept distracting me, and Im pretty sure everyone thinks I have a coke problem because I had to run to the bathroom to flush out my eye every 15 min.

SATURDAY:
Erica and I went out for breakfast at this place called Doughboys in West Hollywood. Really good food and nice weather (it's always nice weather here). And Erica headed to Santa Monica to walk the pier and boardwalk. Erica had to leave part way through but I walked down to Venice beach. It was crazy. Like wow. I could buy all the pot I wanted (haha) but no sunscreen. I got so burnt. And the people were all hippies.

SUNDAY:
Erica and I went to the Nancy Drew screening at the Directors Guild (DGA). So cheesy but good. And Chris Kattan is in it. Too funny.

MONDAY:
After work I rushed to the DGA where Erica got us tickets to a Michael Moore Q&A and screening of SiCKO. In order to get tickets you have to be a member of the DGA- which Erica is as a PA in her job. So it was a theater full of directors. Very cool.. as Erica says- people should be forced to wear their IMDB credits on their shirts. It was cool to talk to people in line and know that they are big wigs, but not know who they are. So Erica and I sat in the 6th row. Perfect distance because the projector is set back into the stage- so we werent too close, but we got to be really close for the Michael Moore chat. We heard rumor that Ron Howard was there (hes a DGA member) and it turns out Ron wanted to go to the event but it was sold out, and the mc that was going to interview Michael Moore backed out so they said he could come if he mc'ed. So he did. So last night I got to see Ron Howard interview/field questions to Michael Moore. SO COOL. It was crazy. Ive seen two people from arrested Development since Ive been out here. Ive been here fro one month and seen so many cool people and done so many cool things. I cant wait for the second half of my LA stay.. I hope it's as exciting as the first half. Michael Moore seems like a really great guy, he was funny, down to earth and so laid back. Ron Howard too. Ron Howard was wearing olvie green pants and a bright green shirt. It was pretty funny.

COMING UP...
This week I think Im going to be on set Thursday and Friday with Designed to Sell, rumor has it Lisa wants to take me shopping.. so we shall see. Friday my flight leaves at 10:00pm and I head to CT. I get in Saturday morning and then leave Sunday for the Cape. So Saturday will be when I visit friends and my grandparents. I cant wait for that!

****Erica and I both want lawn tickets to JM so if anyone is getting them please get two more for us. You will get paid back and maybe even a finders fee ;) *****
