Moneyball

Before this weekend, I hadn't been to a movie theater in almost a year, and that shouldn't really count because it was only to buy my brother a gift certificate for that movie theater. The last time I went to actually see a movie was more than four years ago for the Simpsons movie. The last time I went to see a non-animated movie was more than eight years ago for the sequel to Lord of the Rings. I had absolutely no idea what was going on in that movie, but that was my fault for not having viewed the original, which would have been too hard for me to process anyway. I was just going along for the ride.

Anyway, Moneyball receives generally positive reviews from me. If anything, I thought it ran a little long, but even my more frequent movie viewing brother agreed with me. It definitely helped that it was a topic I was familiar with. The GM's assistant had some funny lines, reminding me a little of my own sense of humor. I remember the actual 20 game winning streak that the A's had that season, but I had no recollection of how crazy the 20th win was. For those interested, here's the box score from that game to prove it:

There couldn't have been more than a dozen of us in the theater. I guess most of us had already seen it a full month after its initial release, so that would explain it. If people ask me what it was about, my answer would be "roughly an hour and 53 minutes", since I'm not very good at explaining plot-lines, or just not fast enough at giving them before my literal sense gets in the way.
