After having the "free" cell phone that came with my plan for the last 10 years or so, I have a lot to learn with my fancy phone. First of all, the battery life is amazingly short compared to my old cheapy phone. I charged it Friday and it is dead now. Granted, that's cause I forgot to turn off the "location" feature so it's been searching the universe, but still. My old phone lasted for almost a week. I forget that things like internet and maps take battery power. One thing I love about the charging is that it can charge off my computer, so I set it up to do that at work when I remember. It's easier that way because I don't plug it in and forget about it since it's attached to the laptop. I wish that it beeped that annoying beep to say "low battery" like my old one, because it only yells at me about battery life when I pick it up to use it, not when it's sitting in my computer bag. I don't use my phone as an ipod - I can't imagine how often I'd have to recharge if I did!!!!
So today wasn't very productive. I went to the gym, but the trainer had my folder in her possession (I guess, since it wasn't in the file drawer) so I couldn't do the whole routine. I know what to do on some of it, but not all of it and I didn't want to hurt myself. Sunday afternoons are a great time to go to the gym - there were probably only 10 people there! Much nicer than in the evenings. Being a teacher gives me the advantage - getting there at 4:45 or so gives me almost an hour jump on the people with "real" jobs that don't get out of work until 5 or later.
I'm ashamed to admit how many hours I participated in video games today. Jeff brought his Olympics game back over that we played a few weeks ago. They played a LOT, I just played some. But I watched a lot!
In sports news, I am *SO* ready for Mark Teixeira to just pick a team already. For some reason, the Orioles seem to still be in the running ... I just read a moment ago that the Angels pulled their offer. Seriously? I mean, come on. There are nice warm fuzzy stories to go along with a kid signing with their hometown team from when they were growing up ... but the Orioles just aren't that good. Maybe they will be by the time this huge long contract plays out, but why would you want to play with a team that doesn't have playoff hopes? Money is nice and all, but I would think it would be stressful and disappointing to be on a non-competitive team. But I'm tired of reading about it and hearing about it - just pick a team!
In additional sports news ... this whole "Which baseball team will you root for now?" question is a difficult one to answer. Who would have ever thought I'd root for the Yankees for 8 years?!?! But now that I'm invested in the other players on that team and I have a favorite news blogger that entertains me, and they have enough starting pitching to be ultra-competitive (barring injuries), it seems silly to just dismiss them. But I'm not a Yankee fan in my heart! It's so hard. Don't get me wrong, I would love for the Orioles to be a winning team - they're just so frustrating to watch.
Now that it's almost 9pm, maybe I should think about dinner?
