So I have a new freeloadin' resident at the house. Not paying rent, not keeping her share of the chores. Not even an offer to help out around the yard. Instead she just yells at me when I come by. That's not very nice of her do that.

As I was cutting the lawn tonight, I generally look down to see what I'm cutting. Sounds normal right? It was one spot in the back yard that I was at where, as I passed it, was getting louder each time. I couldn't see a bird, and just assumed it was flying by. Then a couple passes later is when I saw it. And she was a little pissed at me for being that close to her. She shook her wings at me and screamed at me in bird-speak. Sure enough in the backyard she has a small nest of eggs that she's guarding from me. Thankfully I didn't crush the eggs with the lawn mower, but it will be a little while before I can cut that part of the lawn again. And I guess I won't be letting the cat out for a few weeks...

For those curious....

Killdeer or a wee bit more scientific Charadrius vociferus  is my new resident. Soon to be a family of 4 living in the backyard. You can dig up some more info here like she dug up part of the yard and hear what they sound like here.

I will say that it beats having skunks around...

Hehehe....sorry
arnie40, I had to throw that one in :)
