“He looks like the Doctor. The second one,” Jackie added helpfully, helping her daughter prepare tea in the cavernous kitchen of the estate house.
‘Thanks, mum, you wanna put that in a memo entitled “Shit I Already Know”?’
Red vs. Blue is very popular even at alt!alt!Torchwood.
“You’ve spent all of your time with him, since you found him months ago. Have you…have you thought, maybe, of taking a break?”?”
Professor Peter Carlisle is no Jimmy Stone, Jackie.

Pete had remained silent on the matter, but continued to watch with a wary eye.
She may be his daughter, but they still met one another as adults. He doesn’t have that default of thinking of her as a little girl.
“’s mad, isn’t it? He’s a bit like drugs; I can’t seem to get enough of him. But, mum-it took us almost two years to get this far. There’s so much time to make up; I don’t want to lose another minute with him.”

oh... thanks for that... NOT
now I have to find something to scrub that out of my head... ;)
Has she even told him the skiing accident story is hokum?
yes... she told him that it was work related, that the accident was just a cover story. She told him pretty early on that it was serious and why she was no longer a field agent... she just hadn't told him *how* serious - I'm pretty sure she told him that someone else died, even.

When was this? The only reference I remember to them discussing it - prior to this point - was Peter remembering that she'd told him it had been an accident, full stop.

My brain writes all sorts of things that haven't happened yet.

Looking forward to Monday! I can't believe I just said that. XD

LOl I'm the same way. The only thing about Mondays and only reason I look forward to Monday is for the next chapter of So things go. I don't know what I'm going to do when it over... cry most likely.

I'll take my cue from principia_coh and just append my comments onto my initial reaction last night :)
I adore these two. I love that Jackie is really the same regardless of which 'verse she's in... whether it's *ours* (i.e. DW), or the Things 'verse or the Alt!Alt 'verse.
“Just some breathing room, love--to make sure. Maybe even a weekend apart.”
but they have had a couple, right ? She's been down to London a couple of times for work related things...
I love that Peter is great with John in both 'verses... he's still a little boy in so many ways and he gets along with kids really well, much to the surprise of a lot of people around him. My heart just melts a little when he's with kids.
He turned to her, pulling her into a crushing hug, burying his nose in her hair. “Don’t. Please ( ... )

I posted that, passed out, got up this morning, and hit the ground running. Which means I didn't even get to *read* comments until tonight! Horrors!

Jackie Tyler: Multi-versal constant (because she's awesome). *g*
I love that Peter is great with John in both 'verses...
Peter definitely has an innate gift with kids--because, as you point out, he's very much a kid at heart. *happysigh*
this little exchange both broke my heart and made it swell with love for these two
I loved writing it. Well and truly.
So she keeps her house in London - a reverse of Peter keeping the house in Kendal... always a place to escape to... and in this case, since they have a real reason to go to London
She definitely keeps the house, although I don't know that it gets used too often, once she moves in with Peter. Maybe a few times a year? Still--not a bad second home to have...
*sigh* love that is meant to be... ( ... )

I enjoy how sure of himself and their relationship Peter is that he isn't torn up about looking like the Doctor as our Peter was. He doesn't have those self wroth issues and maybe it partly because how their relationship started (Rose wasn't giving him those wishful looks etc). I love how in Rose's mind doesn't see it. Our Rose is the same think:D

We don't, short of the fact that they're Williams's cronies (nope, not Penny).
Does Rose still keep in close contact with her old term or is it too hard?
She does--in fact, she still consults for Torchwood on the side, although it's only ever academic, and not field work.
I enjoy how sure of himself and their relationship Peter is
In the essentials, the Peters are the same; but when it comes to confidence, they're night and day.
