oooh... oooh... um... speechless... for now... promise I'll comment... more than just that was lovely...

I'll take my cue from principia_coh and just append my comments onto my initial reaction last night :)

I adore these two. I love that Jackie is really the same regardless of which 'verse she's in... whether it's *ours* (i.e. DW), or the Things 'verse or the Alt!Alt 'verse.

“Just some breathing room, love--to make sure. Maybe even a weekend apart.”

but they have had a couple, right ? She's been down to London a couple of times for work related things...

I love that Peter is great with John in both 'verses... he's still a little boy in so many ways and he gets along with kids really well, much to the surprise of a lot of people around him. My heart just melts a little when he's with kids.

He turned to her, pulling her into a crushing hug, burying his nose in her hair. “Don’t. Please.”
She turned slightly, brushing a kiss over his hair. “I won’t.”
As she said the words, she found she meant them. She didn’t want to risk losing him - or making him lose her.

this little exchange both broke my heart and made it swell with love for these two. Peter's clearly frantic as he realizes just how dangerous what Rose did was and frantic to keep her safe, as any one would be of the person they love... and Rose, who might in other situations, have been taken completely aback and launched a 'how dare you' tirade realizes that now that she's found something so precious to live for she would actually give up that side of her life even if she hadn't been grounded because of her injuries.

*HUGS* them.

So she keeps her house in London - a reverse of Peter keeping the house in Kendal... always a place to escape to... and in this case, since they have a real reason to go to London to see Jackie and Pete (as opposed to just going to Kendal as an escape) they don't have to stay at the house. The house sounds *lovely* ... I love that neighborhood of London.

“Will you ever forgive yourself for it?” he finally asked, taking her aback.
She glanced up at him, surprised by his question. “No,” she replied, giving the honest answer without thinking.

that's the sort of thing that it's awfully hard to forgive yourself for. You can really only just remember it and not let it happen again, either literally if you stay in the business where it's likely to.. or figuratively in other situations.

She’d thought she might still be embarrassed by Peter acknowledging the physical reminders of Kendal-but as he made love to her that night, he kissed lines down each one, whispering thanks that she was there, that she was his, and that she loved him in return.

*sigh* love that is meant to be...

I posted that, passed out, got up this morning, and hit the ground running. Which means I didn't even get to *read* comments until tonight! Horrors!

Jackie Tyler: Multi-versal constant (because she's awesome). *g*

Peter definitely has an innate gift with kids--because, as you point out, he's very much a kid at heart. *happysigh*

I loved writing it. Well and truly.

She definitely keeps the house, although I don't know that it gets used too often, once she moves in with Peter. Maybe a few times a year? Still--not a bad second home to have...

*sigh* love that is meant to be...

Absolutely. :)
