He’d awoken that morning as content as he could ever remember, Rose curled next to him under the duvet. He’d had no grand plans for the trip north, had just known she needed a break, and he wanted her to himself for a bit. He’d been astonished to rediscover the day before, just how very much he loved her, as though he’d somehow forgotten the

Well, that's brilliant.
Though I'm slightly disappointed that Jackie didn't really give Peter a slapping (mostly for hilarity's sake), I am very amused by the fact that they didn't tell her until they got there. Jackie FTW.
Three cheers for the Carlisles!
I've had too much coffee. My apologies.

They've learned how to ... manage ... Jackie. And don't think that Jackie wasn't fully prepared to let Peter know her opinion on the matter; Rose simply talked her down from it.

I have not had nearly enough. *sigh*

If you think Peter's going to have time to bother with something so trifling as looking at the engraving on a ring during his honeymoon, you don't know Peter well at all. ;)
I kid. I've tried to work it into the Honeymoon story, but currently the characters are having none of it. As a result, I may have to whip up "A Morning After Thing" just to address that single question. Because it's driving me a little crazy, too.
If you think this is all I have to say, well...aw heck, you know it won't be
Yaaaay! I look forward to your more in-depth thoughts!

Ok, ok, so I've worked out how I'll do the "what's engraved on the ring?" thing. They'll be in bed ;)
Well, if the characters insist on another ficlet, who am I to argue?
I am supposed to be beta-ing, and cleaning, and doing a million things today, ginamak! Not writing more ficlets!!!!! You're a very very very bad influence. VERY BAD.

I continue to love these stories, and it's so rare to see followup stories that do such a good job of expanding the universe of the original story. Thank you!

I thought it was important that we see these things from Peter's perspective; he's been through marriage before, had thought it would never happen again. Plus, he's fun to write, because he always has a slightly snarky bent when dealing with the outside world.
There's such a quiet, deep, intense love presented in these stories, and the writing presents it so simply and openly.
Thank you! I always envision Peter's love for Rose as something deep, a large, slow river that looks calm but has untold depths and currents eddying under the surface. It's rather like the Mighty Mississippi, as envisioned by Twain. And that, I think, influences the tone of the stories as much as any of the ideas that pop up.

Yay! I'm so glad. :)
Very nice thing to wake up to in the morning
Thank you! Posting this was, quite literally, the first thing I did once I rolled out of bed this morning. Not a bad way to wake up at all... ;)

Now I'm intrigued to see some of Peter's earlier interactions with Jackie, she's quite calm despite the situation, but then again, I'm sure she's got some sort of ceremony/reception planned for her revenge ;)

Exactly. And even though Rose wasn't raised with money, the fact is that she now--at least in the public perception--comes from money. And so of course poor Peter would wonder if he'd be able to live up to what people would expect for an Heiress. P_C and others have raised the point that, no matter the reality, there is a segment of the population who will always assume Peter's a kept man. That can't be easy for him, and I am certain it's led to more than a few rows between he and Rose. So, yeah--having money doesn't make things any easier, and living together doesn't magically solve the issues associated with it.
[Jackie's] quite calm despite the situation
She and Peter get along, and Jackie knows that he absolutely loves Rose. But yeah--she's no doubt got some kind of huuuuuge ceremony or some such up her sleeve ;)
