For a moment there, I wasn't sure how it was going to end. :) Is Roberta Van DeKamp the same Van DeKamp that William got sent to? Because I thought she was talking about William at one point
( ... )
Thanks so much for this comment -- I am so, so glad that you enjoyed this piece and that this is what you got out of it (because this is always what I got out of the show, and it's what I got out of IWTB).
Agreed about Hawaii (I love that the movie ended that way - sigh.) Also have friends who live in Hawaii, and apparently they LOVE it. So. Yeah. It really only makes me jealous. Beyond this, I thought of it as part of the gift Mulder and Scully "offered" Pele in exchange for their wish, Mulder and Scully will always be people who watch over others and the land around them. :)
And good catch with the Van DeKamp. I searched far and wide on the net for the correct first name of William's adoptive mother, but yes. She was talking about William. Scully's nose began to bleed for the same reason Father Joe's did in the movie. If that helps at all. :)
Thank you again for reading and I am so, so glad you enjoyed!!
Thank you so much - I'm so grateful for everyone who stuck with this piece... (I know WIPs and the like can be really frustrating to read, especially if you stick with something and then get an ending you hate...)
Thanks again, and I hope you'll keep sending feedback to all the talented authors in this community! :)
Thank you -- I am so glad that you stuck with this piece and enjoyed it -- your comment means a lot to me. (I know longer pieces aren't always easy to stick with.)
This was such a perfect, well-written fic, and more than that, it have me something I needed--a real closure for M/S, as my heart had broken when she lost William. Bravo.
Oh, thank you -- that's such a lovely compliment. And I'm glad this gave you a bit of closure, too. That's really all I was going for in this fic (as closure, I think, tends to work out much better in the fic world than the real XF universe) so thank you for that. :)
I love how you connected so many things. From the time on the clocks to Mulder's lazeer point dreams. This is probably my favorite X-File fanfic ever writtin.
Poor poor William and his adoptive parents. ;o;
But YAY babies. :D I hope you somehow morph into CC so you can make this into a movie!
When I was drafting this, I actually kept long lists of details (because I found they kept changing as I kept editing)so it makes me happy to hear people caught on to all those things. I wanted to make sure I wrote something that, on second read, wouldn't feel like a cheat. So hopefully, on second read (knowing how it ends), this is a slightly different story.
And I agree about William. :( Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out any other way to make this piece work. But hopefully, the happy ending makes it a little okay. :)
:) Do you write real stories? You talk like a true author with drafts and notes and what not. I know I usuuuallly run in blindly with an idea of what I want and like...drafts in my head, but never on paper. lol
;o; I think it's fitting even though it's so sad. Everything and everyone got closure, so it was very nice.
Hee hee -- thanks for that compliment as well. In real life, I used to be a book editor (I now work in theater) and do, in fact, write. As for whether or not I've been published? I'll never tell. :)

Ohhhhh. Suddenly, it all makes sense! Brilliant! :)
I hope the film will continue to inspire you to write more. ;) Hell, even if you're just reposting your old fics, I'd be happy.

Again, I am so glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to write and I did try to make it a little twisty-turny, so I'm glad that aspect came through as well.
I'll be pulling some stuff over to this LJ in the next few weeks. It's not a lot, but I'll house it here nonetheless.
Thank you so much! :)

such a beautiful end.
fantastic job my dear. I'm not one that will usually stick with a longer fanfic and read it all the way through to the end, but yours kept me hooked.
love it

main reason I don't stick with the longer fics is because it's srs hell on my eyes sitting and staring at text for such a long time.
la la la, my eyes suck
