here's an entry about music
So the other day I finally put the ton of music I'd been accumulating here and there into my itunes, and now I'm like, rolling around in new music and it's so much fun, isn't it, listening to a really good song for the first time, and wanting to immediately replay it? I love that feeling!
I still get excited when I can buy records for $10 at Target, which is a great place to find indie bands on sale!
I also got a summer sampler from Nylon Magazine--just go to nylonmag.com and look for the itunes playlist, and you too can get 20 free songs including new Duran Duran and a Florence + the Machine live track.
Gotta say, I'm enjoying music a lot more now that I don't pay attention to the online feminist chatter about music, which I find incredibly narrow in both the artists discussed and the aspects of those artists considered in the analysis. Either no one is interested in reading anything broader, or no one is interested in writing it. I'm getting better at tuning out things that endlessly frustrate me.

- However, a Target in Brooklyn is a lousy place to find any copies at all of the new Jill Scott, which I streamed off NPR a few weeks ago--totally sold out, so I'll have to grab that off itunes itself. You go girl with your #1 album!
- I'm a little behind with getting on the Mumford & Sons bandwagon but damn, that record is really excellent.
- I also got the new Bon Iver, which is very Bon Iver-y.
- I got a Spin Magazine sampler which I haven't made my way through, completely, but which has a ton of great stuff on it.
- Foster the People is summery and bright and I highly. recommend it; if you like any of their songs that have been floating around, you'll like the record.
