Glad I didn't finish The Lovely Bones, then! About fifty pages in, the writing, story and characters bored me, so I never finished. You're right, the storyline sounds very contrived and just plain bad. (TLB is notorious for its horrible metaphors, but I didn't know they were that bad. Ferocious olives--LOL

Yeah, I avoided The Lovely Bones like the plague, TBH. Mostly for the reasons you listed above. I really hate how she possessed her lesbian friend just to have sex with some dude she kissed way back when, instead of, IDK... helping solve the murder? And yes, it does count as rape for the lesbian friend, because she wouldn't have consented to it. It's SO horrible.
I do, however, love East. It starts off a bit slow, I think, but I do love it. :3
The Lovely Bones was the worst. Though, I found that reading it made me feel better about my own writing, because if someone like Sebold could be published, then I definitely could. :D
I'm about 100 pages into East, and am loving it. :D

Sounds like an interesting bunny. And hilariously ferocious. I wonder which would fare better in a fight, your bunny or an olive? :P
Thanks for that advice. I think I shall put Ruby Red on FictionPress. I'm thinking that it'll help motivate me finish plowing through the end.
