It was going so well.

They thought they were getting their lives. Fools. They got to be agents of chaos and of pain. She would feed on that pain and watch. Watch them all grow stronger. More formed by the experience. Closer to the potential all creatures had, but most couldn't bear the weight of.

Maybe when this was all over, she'd keep Jade and Kostan. They had potential. They had the talent...the potential for true greatness. If nothing else, replacing was easier than erasure. Jade could have the charmed life the godling had carved for herself. Maybe more willing souls would cut down on the troubles she had experienced. So few had the potential to bear the weight of what she needed.

The spell was ready. She held in close to her heart, waiting for another to come to her while the others rested. The lies Kostan told himself were exquisite. The envy had been so easy to call forth and fuel. The gossip around he and the "Regent" had been so easy to enhance - especially with the failure of yet another marriage among them. Especially when it was so easy just to heard the souls of the Titans around one another. Titans Together. Oh, they had no idea what kind of poison and gift that was to one like her!

Hippolyta and her wartime companions had indeed taught her well. Vengeance against one is for mortals. A goddess removes that which vexes her plus anyone else that might come to challenge. After this experiment, she hoped this would finally show them all...all the souls she could use.

Somewhere...she could feel Donna Troy sleeping, trying to wake. Trying to find the way out. She sensed them again.

"No," she hissed. "It's not your time."

We are dying...the reply came.

"We all are. Patience."

Olympus could heal us. We need -

"She isn't ready for you. They are not ready for you. The research...the tempering...must continue. Look what happened with their last deaths! She gained allies."

You promised us. They replied resigned. Then threatening...We will keep you to it.

If she were a more petty creature, she would roll her eyes. She looked closer at the dreams....Damn the Archer! He'd sent her on a dream walk while they came and distracted her. It was too soon to see that. Too soon to pick out a voice out of the choir.

"Jade! Cheshire! To me! We need to go before the others."
