No decision was going to be the right one. It was time to get the hell out of there instead of watch all her loved ones get drug through hell once more - this time at the hands of other loved ones instead of some nutcase with a vendetta.
Slow night. If Fate was right, it was the calm before the storm. All the more reason to have something be normal around. She'd already had her and Ralph's wedding rings cleaned. She'd put in the special order for the new wedding rings. She knew Ralph wasn't going to be shocked by any of it. Didn't matter if she got all the credit card bills and made the calls when he was on camera doing something else. She tried planning birthday parties and puzzles. The World Famous Elongated Man would solve them before the started and then act all shocked and amazed for her benefit. She knew that she was only able to deliver 3 surprises in 15 years - Alanna, coming back from the dead, and saying "yes," in the first place. Still, the game was so much fun and the effort yielded its own rewards. For example, finding the Giles guy in France that did flat brilliant custom work and was enough of a fan of famous detectives that he wouldn't ask too many questions about the job she had in mind.
It was mostly scheduled and arranged. Now to find a place and a date to get things in motion.
