Jamie Eddison
8 years for drug possession

1829 - The first experiment in solitary confinement in the United States begins at the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia. It is based on a Quaker belief that prisoners isolated in stone cells with only a Bible would use the time to repent, pray and find introspection. But many of the inmates go insane, commit suicide, or are no longer able to function in society, and the practice is slowly abandoned during the following decades.

What a load of crap. It’s still going on. Some call it 'long term confinement' or 'permanent lockdown', but the screws here don't even bother with those little white lies. Here, it's just plain 'solitary'.

Jamie's on his sixth day in the Hole and he really wants a cigarette. Pacing back and forth the sound of his bare feet on the concrete is surreal, like sandpaper slippers on leather..or is that the other way around?. Hard to tell now.
Don’t loose it. Don’t go crazy.

His jaw feels better. His tooth might not be cracked after all. Hard to tell. He plans on asking to see the dentist when he get back to gen pop, they might even get him an appointment in a few months. Here’s hoping.

"FUCK!!" he jerks his foot away from the sudden sharp pain and reaches down to feel the wet of blood on his foot.

"Fucking rats.."

Still, getting thrown in the hole for fighting is better than not fighting and playing bitch.
