"Cassandra, honey, do you mind being on dinner detail this evening? I don't care what so long as it doesn't bite back."

But...but...she made tea. And cookies.
Cassie intercepts her Mom, wrenching the glass of wine from her Mom's hand.
"I can totally do dinner. Maybe something Italian? Or Mexican?" Truth is, she'll probably pick up the phone and order pseudo-Greek food from Daphne's, but Mom doesn't really need to know that at this point. "I made tea. And cookies. I thought you might, you know, like to relax after a really long day, and hey, what better way to do it than tea and cookies?" She flashes her mom a bright smile. "Timeweek said that wine isn't quite the best relaxing agent on a weekday."

"Okay, Cassie, if you failed the History Exam I promise not to be too mad, but we are going to have to talk about getting some study time in."

She sets the glass of wine down and pulls the rolled up paper out from the back pocket that she'd stuffed it in, flashing it in front of her Mom's eyes. "I really don't think this counts as failing," she says with a sunny grin.

"This is great!" she says, enveloping her daughter in a hug. "I'm so proud of you!"
A beat.
"So why are you looking like I'm going to ground you until doomsday?" Convinced? Nope. Not even the God of Thieves can lie to his mother. Why should she be able to?

Cassie sighs and goes to the stove, pouring some tea into two cups. She makes her mother's tea the way she likes it, and pours a large cup of tea for herself, loading it up with honey. She brings the cups to either side of the plate of cookies and takes a seat on one end, glancing up at her Mom.
"Maybe you should sit down?"

"Look, Mom, it's not a bad thing, what I'm about to tell you. I'm not, like, becoming Ares' consort or anything. And no, I'm not asking for a tattoo either. But...this is about a boy..." She doesn't dare look into her mother's eyes, instead staring at the plate of cookies, her cheeks turning red.
