Dr. Mid-Nite had done his job, setting up the bones properly so that whenever the Flash felt up to it, he could speed-heal himself with no problems at all

She hasn't moved, not a bit, but when his breathing changes, her eyes flicker, then open, and the hand on his chest slides a bit. Her inquiry about his health isn't that lucid.
"I should've warned you," she mumbles blearily. "I'm so sorry, Rick. I'm...."
The exhaustion can't help her mood, and she needs food desperately, but the tears take her by surprise anyways. Her face turns against his shoulder, and she falls silent.
Jesse doesn't say a word. The embrace is so familiar but strange, like a long-forgotten memory just resurfaced, and that tinge of bittersweet remembrance simply inspires more tears.
"I'm sorry," is the first thing she says, once she's recovered. Not surprising: she often apologizes for, well, everything. "I'll get Dr. Mid-Nite to look at you."
The smile is there. Fleetingly, but there. "It's what happened. It's you and him and the mind control and..." Fingers press to her forehead. "I need to get some food. I can't think straight."
At last, she chuckles. Helplessly, with a mad wipe of her eyes. The protein bar is gone in a blink. "Thanks. Really, someone should check you out. Make sure I got everything."
Jesse doesn't look like she quite knows how to take that line, so in the end she smiles and touches his cheek, wistful. "I look terrible. But it's sweet of you to care."
Then her head swivels as she looks for her boyfriend.
Rick's eyes slowly start to open, to a mass of soft blonde hair.
It's... familiar, too. Even through all of the blood, sweat and tears they've been through... it still has her scent.
A brief test of his limbs, and his positioning, lets him know that, somehow, he's spooning with Jesse Chambers.
Wonderful thing to wake up to.
He lies still. Just listening to her breathe. Feeling her body expand and contract beneath his arm.
He realizes sharply just how much he's missed her.

Her morning voice. That sweet little rasp. His finger is stroking her cheek before he even realizes it.
"I'm okay. Thanks entirely to you."

"It's okay. You're fine. You saved my life, Jesse. I owe you more than I can ever repay."
His words are soft, tinged with regret of years past.

It doesn't change his response.
A gentle brush of her hair, his cheek atop her head as he holds her through this.
Don't say a word, Rick. None of the apologies, the wonderings, the questions or even the kiss on the forehead. It's not your place.
Just... be a good man. A good friend for this girl you care so much about.
Let her cry.

"I'd rather you look at me first. I'd rather you tell me what's got you so upset. It can't just be me... much as I could use the ego boost."
Hoping to draw at least a flash of a smile from her.

Notice she's not moving.

Another attempt at a joke.
"Hold on..."
He reaches over to grab his belt, lying near the table. Opening up a few compartments to pull out some protein bars.
"After the Miraclo wears off, I'm usually pretty famished and worn out myself."
He bites one of them open for her. "Eat up, babe - er... Jesse."
A little flush of his cheeks.
"Sorry."

Wally's gone. Again. And she's with someone else. Again.
"Damn it."

Trying to keep the mood from sinking too far.

"Well... you're someone. And I certainly wouldn't mind you checking me out."
That gets a lopsided grin to punctuate it.
Before the non-punchy part of him kicks in.
"But... uh. Right. If I'm stupid enough to say something like that, maybe there is something wrong with me..."

Who isn't there.
Her lips twist in a frown.
