Mr. Bug Goes to Washington

Dec 14, 2006 21:04

Ambush Bug has just been thrown out of a the first informal "meet and greet," of the Ross administration. Inside there is music, champagne, and a lot of heated debate in polite terms.

Outside, there's a lot of men with guns and dark suits knocking out other men in better quality dark suits at a rapid clip.

mr. bug goes to washington, sarge steel, mr. bones, ambush bug, black lightning, sue dibny, hotshot

Even Ambush Bug knows that something isn't right about this.

"Hey, stop fighting! The other guys got the waiter jobs fair and square!"

The men in army type gear just start at the Bug...and then continue on into the buidling entrence, which isn't guarded now.

Realization dawns. "Hokey smokes! These guys are gonna crash that nice dinner party! C'mon, Cheeks, we better stop'em."

Lowering his beach umbrella like a lance, he charges.

And right through a window at that....

Meanwhile:

"EVERYONE FREEZE!" The men with the black suits are held at gunpoint first. One of the gray and black camo guys holds a M-16 on the Bug (and Cheeks).

"Evening everyone," comes a crisp military voice from over the PA system. "You may call me the General. My men have you and this place, and themselves for that matter wired to go off at any second I say for them to do so."

CRASH! Broken glass and the Bug come flying through a window and the bug is promptly covered with an assault rifle like the rest of the party.

"Kindly move to the ballroom at this time for further instructions."

And it was all going so well, snark at Waller, do some business, get the speech to the UN ready tonight before Ralph goes to bed so she can be up for Allanah who gets up those same farm hours as Daddy does.

Nope. Idiots and morons. What kind is the question...

Sarge Steel, second to Director Bones in the DEO, shifts his gaze to his boss.

"Tell me that's not Eiling."

"It's not Eiling," Bones responds, quickly. "Nowhere near his M.O. He doesn't need men."

He spares a glance for the Bug, before shaking his head and starting to tug at the fingers of his gloves.

"Knew I shouldn't have bothered with this thing. Let's see if Vice President Super-Hero can get the job done before I have to start racking up a body count."

In spite of the high-powered weaponry being pointed at civilians, Trevor can't help but smile as he slips his sunglasses on to let him case the attackers without attracting their attention. He's seen at least two metahumans in the room, as well as Sarge Steel and the Secret Service agents surrounding Vice President Pierce. Whoever these guys are, they're good enough to have gotten past a team of agents trained to hold off a Marine Corp battalion, but Trevor doubts they counted on metas.

Standard cover formation, Trevor thinks as he watches the men lead the guests to the ballroom, surrounding them on both sides with guns held at the ready position. Standard issue equipment, too, and they know how to hold it. which begs the question of whether these guys are former military, or active.

Trevor sticks his hands in his pocket as he trudges along with the rest of the media sheep, palming two small bags of highly flammable powder.

Give us an opening, boys. That's all we need.

Pierce is almost frighteningly quiet. The Secret Service is surrounding him, and for the most part he's doing as they say, but he's not concerned ... not for himself, anyway. And his secrets aren't worth anyone's life.

But he also knows who's in this room ... even a few who'd prefer he not know ... he knows how much firepower surrounds him.

Without saying a word, he's tapping into the ambient electrical energy. Static. The assailants are holding metal guns.

The charge builds ... pushed invisibly toward the commandos ... not the secret service ... need to be careful, Pierce, only the bad guys, and don't be seen doing it ...

Soon, it'll be time to give these people a shock. When the moment's right.

There's a gun at her back and her hands are in the air. She's right there with Waller and Peirce she's betting...assessing the firepower in the room, the response time, and the Bug.

"Easy, easy..." she says. She notes something in the eyes though. That look on "not quite there." Oh, boy. Mind bender at the end of the road on this one. She uses the herding patern these guys are laying out to move closer to Waller.

All the guests and reporters are moved systematically into an inner ballroom.

"Now that you are all here...please empty your pockets and purses to the gentleman coming around with the bag." Says the "general," over the loudspeakers. "You are donating to a true and worthy cause...mine. Ah, DC...if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere."

A kid grabs Sue's hand. "What is this?"

She sighs deeply. "A Grey Ghost de-coder ring." In 18K gold plate...with cubic zirconia highlights...because she had these specially made for her and Ralph. "You wouldn't be able to pawn this is your life depended on it. Trust me."

Jefferson almost betrays a smile at that. Then he steps forward. Time to act like vice president.

He looks over at the man in charge.

"A robbery? Do you have any idea the world of trouble you've brought on yourself? I suggest you end this now."

She on the floor. Damn dress and heels. Someday, Dinah has to show her how to maneuver in these things.

She sees the shorting on the weapons. If these guys were not pre-programmed, they likely would have noticed. As it stands, they are staring at Ambush Bug.

She ducks and covers.

Sarge cracks his metal fist into the jaw of one of the soldiers, trying to knock him cold and steal the machine gun away from him discreetly, while all the flash-banging and Ambush Bugging is going on. If he can do that, he'll duck and cover out of sight instantly, to make sure he doesn't get caught.

Bones, however, darts toward the apparent floor leader, trying for a leverage move to twist the arm behind his back, one glove off threateningly.

"Take me to your leader, pal."

Ambush Bug is running to each of the soldiers in turn, and shaking them by the shoulders. "She'll eat your brains! Protect your brains!"

To emphasize his point, he attempts to shove each of the soldiers under cover, inflicting head injuries in the process.

"Cheeks! That one's too far away! Save his brains!" Ambush Bug hurls his sidekick with surprising accuracy at one of the more distant soldier's skull.
