Apocalyptica in Berlin

Yesterday I and some friends went to see Apocalyptica, who I had before seen as support act for Rammstein two years ago. My expectations were high, but Apocalyptica beat the hell out of 'em, they were far beyond incredible.

Let me first start of with one of their support acts, though, Sturm und Drang. This finnish metal band with the German name surprised many before even playing the first note. Upon their appearance, the first question racing most of our minds was: 13, 15, maybe 16, but not older! They were kids, looking pretty much like the previous heavy metal band in outfit and hair style, but they were unbelievably young. They delivered a blasting show of heavy metal and hard rock and we wondered when did they start playing guitar?. Awesome!

After the great performance of »Sturm und Drang« the long awaited Apocalyptica entered the stage. For those who don't know Apocalyptica a small introduction may be appropriate. Apocalyptica is a band of four cellists and one drummer playing heavy metal songs. They don't have a singer yet they aren't boring or dreary for a single minute. The show is a perfect mix of sound and light both of which seem to be choreographed to perfection. Most of the time I was too busy watching to even think about dancing. I can warmly recommend their concerts to anyone, even if he usually is not into metal. Well, you should probably like Rock. ;)

I had a hard time deciding which pictures to put on this journal so I put a few more on my webspace. Check 'em out if you like.

Here's a video of them playing the Metallica Hit Enter Sandman. Unfortunately the sound isn't all too great.
