Noticing that the last pictures are about to disappear from the bottom of my journal, I remembered all those unshown pictures I have sitting on harddisk and camera. I didn't have much time for anything lately, so I decided to just grab some photos from my camera and put them up here.
About two weeks ago I was walking through the city center, saw my University main building and thought "Haven't been here for a while, let's take a picture". So here it is.
Of course I wasn't just accidently passing by my University ;)... no, I was curious, because just across the street was lots of police and some loud woman sounding like Merkel at first.
Turns out there was a bunch of Kurds demonstrating for their rights, complaining about Turkish and European politics of discimination. They didn't look dangerous at all and I was not convinced it was necessary to have more police than Kurds around.
I followed along and was surprised to see how much progress had been made on the destruction of the
Palast der Rebublik. What once was the parlament of East Germany is not more than a sceleton of steel today. It's always the winners, trying to wipe out the losers history.
Somewhat ironic to have another example of that theorie across the street from the old Palast. The
Berliner Dom which was severely damaged during World War II, had a little memorial church at its side which survived the war unharmed. Nevertheless it's gone now because East Germany decided to blow it up in the 1970s for ideologic reasons. That's how the face of Berlin changes within decades, can't take enough pictures to capture it all.
