I wish we had enough slow time this summer at work to learn things. We were promised a lot of training at the end of spring, but with the new partnership we have too much work now. I want them to show me (or let me learn on my know, but on company time) how to write scripts to make our jobs easier. I want them to go through the various processes that some people here know how to do but haven't been passed on. I want them to let me spend the time figuring out why some files the client provided us are corrupt and can't be used, and then I want to fix them.
I think that is a major reason why I'm not very happy here often. I don't learn anything. This job doesn't help me grow as an employee and typesetter. It's just the same old work every day.
Good thing I didn't believe them when they announced the training plan for the summer. At least I'm not surprised.
