October 30, 2008 -- An Evening with Death
The University of South Alabama played host to one of the most recognizable horror movie icons: Doug Bradley, aka "Pinhead." Doug brought his one-man-show, AN EVENING WITH DEATH, to USA and I have to say it was truly amazing.
While Doug admits to having no formal training as an actor, he proved himself to be versatile (switching effortlessly between his role as the Cenobite leader and a resounding rendition of Macbeth's famous "sound and fury" soliloquy) and charming during the open question and answer session. He recited poetry, cited humorous epitaphs from gravestones, and treated the audience to an "old chestnut" by reading THE MONKEY'S PAW near the end of the show. Not to mention giving one of the most fascinating summaries of HELLRAISER that I've ever heard/seen.
The USA Horror Club, one of the official sponsors for the event, also treated Doug to a late night dinner and drinks. Unfortunately, Mark and I weren't able to attend due to Mark having to be at work earlier than normal the following morning and I wasn't feeling well. (For some reason, I didn't want to gain the reputation of being the one who "made Pinhead sick." Color me strange, but I thought it was best to minimize my contact with Doug.)

That's all for now. I'm off to bed. Feeling better but still a little "blah." Hopefully, that will clear up tomorrow.
