We continue on today with #RPGaDay2023 for August.
Day 20 - Will still play in twenty years time...
This is a tough question, because I'm hampered because of the interpretation of the subject.
If it means will I still be playing in twenty (20) years time, I honestly don't know. I'll be 88 years old when that happens, and I don't know if I'll still be alive or whether I'll have the mental faculties to play a game (let alone to run one) when I'm that age. I like to think I'll still be spry and mentally agile enough to play and run games when I'm that old, if I can.
On the other hand, if it means what game will I be running in twenty (20) years time, well... assuming I'm still around and gaming, I think I'll still be running Khepera Publishing's
Atlantis: The Second Age sword & sorcery fantasy rpg. The game has an absolutely fantastic basic premise, the Antediluvian game world presented in the main rulebook and the Atlantis: Geographica has such rich detail and countless adventure plot hooks, and there are multitudes of ideas out there for the game in the form of Conan and other sword & sorcery literature. And at 88 years old, I'm sure I'll need ideas for adventures and all! :)
There are a couple of other rpgs that I can see myself running 20 years from now as well, but Atlantis: The Second Age is the main game I could see myself doing.
Rivers of London: The Roleplaying Game and
The Troubleshooters are two games that come to mind right off the bat.
And there you have it, my thoughts on this twentieth day of #RPGaDay for August, 2023.
Comments, thoughts, questions, etc. are all welcome, of course. :)
