It's the last day of June, 2022.
And truth be told, I can't wait for this month to be over.
I'm not going to go into details about everything that's gone down in June and why I'll be happy to see the month in the rear view mirror. All you have to do is read some of the blog entries of the past month to see what's been going on health-wise with me and in terms of the fall-out from my mother's death, the state of the estate, and my personal finances (and at one point, my living conditions as a result of some of the choices she made), but it will be good to start looking forward to the month of July. My diabetes is seriously out of control, given that I'm not taking metformin any longer, and the blood sugar is not good, and I'm suffering a lot from allergies this year, which are quite severe. Suffice it to say, I've spent way too much time this month in hospitals, doctor's offices and labs having tests of various sorts, and am just tired (not to mention exhausted by the tests!), but we'll see what July brings in this regard. I am scheduled to have another appointment at the Retina Centre of Ottawa in July as well as my usual, every six weeks or so footcare appointment. I don't have a lot of plans for July, to be honest, at least nothing that comes to mind. Well, other than a bit of reading, doing some work on gaming adventures and material, and (hopefully) getting to play in some rpgs at some point.
Insofar as COVID-19 goes, the virus continues to be a pandemic, despite the fact that the vaccination process continues to be well underway and the various COVID mandates have been pretty much done away with. People continue to make not smart (read: stupid) decisions in terms of physical distancing and not wearing face masks and not taking measures to prevent the spread of the disease, and two new variants of the Omicron variant seem on the verge of wreaking havoc everywhere and making the summer a bad season for COVID this time out. Add the monkeypox virus that's out there as well, and... With the cancelling of the mandates and easing of other restrictions, it's no wonder that there is a rise in cases in various countries at the moment (especially in Canada, and notably in Ontario among three of the provinces). The vaccine is not the be-all and end-all cure, folks.
That said, Ottawa and the valley have experienced some heatwave periods in June that are much more common in July and August, and that does not augur well for the rest of the summer. While it's only going up to 24oC today (with a humidex of around 28oC), I'm not comfortable due to my health and for a couple of other reasons. And my allergies are very bad this year, and that's not helping matters overall. I'm expecting most of July to be very hot, hopefully with little humidity (but that would be a miracle here), but anyway, Ickk! Just plan to keep as cool as I can. 'Nuff said about that.
Otherwise, nothing really planned for the day. Other than some rest and drinking fluids to stay hydrated.
