Haven't mentioned this until now, but the Sunday afternoon roleplaying game session on June 19th and the Friday night game session on June 24th were the last two rpg sessions that I'll be running for at least a month, possibly two. Instead, I'll be *playing* in a roleplaying game or two! Hooray! :)
July is the month of my birthday (the 3rd, to be specific) and as a reward or present for my birthday, one of the players in my Friday night group and
spross in my Sunday afternoon group will be running games for the month of July, and possibly into the month of August (depending on various factors). On Monday, I got the surprise of my life, as Kathy from the Friday night gaming group called me to let me know that she's the one who'll be running the game this year. And she had actually ordered the game she's running (see below) and a couple of supplements for it from
Noble Knight Games.
Much to my surprise, though more so in Kathy's case, both SteveR and Kathy have decided to run the
Atlantis: The Second Age RPG this year, though a pleasant surprise since I adore the Antedilvian rpg of sword & sorcery very much. SteveR has run the game a bit before, some summers ago, but this is the first time Kathy's taking on running a game since I've known her, so it should be a really interesting, fun experience. Kathy told me that she picked up the Atlantis: The Second Age Core Rulebook, the Geographica, the Theragraphica and the two QuickStart adventures for Free RPG Day that were published back in the day, and she's perusing and reading material for the game for over a month and a bit now. Kathy told me that she hopes I'll help her with some of the rules stuff when we play the game, being how new she is to this experience, and I told her I would but that I also trust her to run the game and she'll be better at Game Mastering than she thinks. Besides, I just want to play the game without having the weight of the world (no pun intended!) on my shoulders.
As I understand it, the first session for both SteveR and Kathy will be Session 0 affairs, with character creation and some sample combats.
I cannot wait to get to play
Atlantis: The Second Age, to be honest, and am looking forward to getting to play in the game, heck getting to play again! :)
