We continue on with #RPGaDay2020 in August.
Day 10 - Want
A pretty decent, simple prompt word for the day.
I really want to be able to run the roleplaying games that I'm minded to run these days and the stuff that I'm expecting in the pipeline through Kickstarter and a couple of other places. The games that I want to run these days include:
Capharnaüm - The Tales of the Dragon-MarkedCoriolis - The Third HorizonJohn Carter of Mars Roleplaying Game Zorro: The Roleplaying GameThe Troubleshooters Roleplaying Gameand
Vaesen - Nordic Horror Roleplaying While the Friday night gaming group is always willing to play any game I run, they have their favourites from the list above but don't really know the latter three. Since The Troubleshooters RPG is not out yet, that one's not really a concern. The Sunday gaming group (with only two players) is another matter, to be honest. It's doubtful I'll be able to run Vaesen, The Troubleshooters and possibly John Carter of Mars and even Coriolis again with them, since one of the players doesn't "know" the bases for those games at all or too well, and isn't inclined to do so. Insofar as Vaesen is concerned, I'm not a real fan of horror rpgs, one of the reasons I don't tend to run them all that often, and when I have, it's games that have had some sort of appeal to me. But I consider Vaesen to be a "blue moon" rpg, one that I'll only run for short periods, and only occasionally.
However, this is okay...for now. To be honest, I'm really jonesing to run
Zorro: The Roleplaying Game, this despite some of the major problems I have with the rulebook and what's been included and omitted in the book. Heck, I'm working on three scenario plots right now for the game. :) I also want to get back to the Arabian Nights goodness of the
Capharnaüm - The Tales of the Dragon-Marked RPG as well. While the game mechanics and system are not as rules lite as I might want these days, the game is just sooo much fun and so evocative, to be honest.
That said, I also know full well that while I want to run these games, the chances of running all of them even under the best of circumstances wouldn't work that well. My players (and I) want to play rpgs that have continuity, long-term goals, and allow the player characters to develop - and running six (6) rpgs from time to time just wouldn't give them that at all. So, I'll have to subsume my wants somewhat and see what I can run and how often I can run them as the gaming schedule and players permit.
So, that's my take on today's prompt.
And there you have this tenth post for this #RPGaDay for August, 2020. Comments, thoughts, questions, etc. are all welcome, of course. :)
