read the fine print
Turns out that it's important to read Page 2 of one's PPO medical benefits.
Page 1 says that radiology is covered 100%, but page 2 days that MRI (which is radiology, but apparently special) is covered 90%. Ten percent didn't sound like a lot, but that's because I didn't ask what it is that I'm paying 10% of. It turns out that laying in a banging machine for 45 minutes costs ten thousand dollars.
Ouch.
