Day whatever of this ridiculous cold: why. I know no one really enjoys being sick, but I am terrible at the part of being sick where you're supposed to rest up and do nothing. I am wretched at doing nothing. However, I'm sick enough that I'm not really good at doing anything really important, either. I am at work today, which is essentially an endeavor happening on a trial basis. Right now I feel like my head is not quite lined up with the rest of me, which is an improvement on the past couple of days where I felt like I didn't have a head at all.
Media I have consumed during my infirmity:
-a whole bunch of Stargate season 4, including the superpower armbands episodes to Divide and Conquer and also Window of Opportunity, episodes full of two of my favorite Stargate things: the Tok'ra and Sam/Jack.
-The Great Game from BBC's Sherlock which I had not yet seen. (Though there was a super bizarre moment at the beginning when Benedict Cumberbatch sounded like Alan Rickman.) Short version of my flailing: BC is beautiful, Watson is believably tolerant of Sherlock, and Moriarty is fascinating.
-Old school Supernatural which is now on Netflix - the pilot, Scarecrow, and Devil's Trap, the episode that hooked me on the series long ago.
- I mentioned Prince of Tennis in my poll which feels like I posted ages ago. I've been watching this new season which seems to take place at some sort of prison tennis camp. This is entirely
ataratah's fault, because I object both in principal and in practice to magic tennis. However, the show is oddly engaging and the names of the tennis moves (Ultra Delicious Mountain Storm!) as well as the complete gayness of the interactions of the characters brings me much joy.
- Books: finished Witch Eyes (gay boy witches and family rivalry, very enjoyable); Delirium (YA book where love is a disease, just started but intrigued); Hex Hall (a terrible watered down Harry Potter magic school AU with a plot too heavy for the frame and yet I read all the way to the end for reasons that I'm not even sure about. It was a terrible book, with some interesting character potential but terribly structured, and if I ever had to teach anyone writing, I'd include this book in the course so we could pick it apart and learn all of the places it went wrong. Seriously, if you are ever worried about your work getting published, read this book and you will be reassured.)
There were several other things I was going to say, but a symptom of this illness is apparently short-term memory loss and general foggy headnedness. I guess this is as good a time as any to go work on my no_tags prompt? Yay! :D:
