"You can spend the rest of your life with me. But I can't spend the rest of my life with you."

I fear I am about to spend the next hour crying. I'm watching School Reunion, from Doctor Who, with someone who's catching up on the second season. We're actually quite close to Army of Ghosts/Doomsday chronologically, but we saw School Reunion long ago when it first aired on Sci Fi and I thought it was important to see it again before we watched the end of the season. Because there's a reason Russell T. tells this story when he does. There's a reason we meet Sarah Jane this part in the season, and a reason she tells the Doctor it's impossible to accept what happens next, after you've travelled with him, after you've seen the universe, and then you can't face the rest of your ordinary life. Rose asks how many companions there have been, and accuses the Doctor of leaving everyone behind. She says, "Is that what you're going to do to me?" And the Doctor says, "Not to you." But the story we see tells us otherwise, and it breaks my heart.

I did many loads of laundry and watched several episodes of Babylon 5 today. It was a good day off, and I can't stop thinking about Delenn and how powerful she is. But perhaps it's not the best time to post about Moments of Transition, since I'm already choked up about Sarah Jane and Rose fighting about the Doctor, so my angsty post about Delenn being willing to sacrifice herself for her people and Lennier talking about how, in Delenn's world, we are all better than we really are, will have to wait until later this weekend.

fantastic!, the circle completing itself
