epic battle sequences, tabulation of credit hours, and paint color samples
I got distracted this morning flipping through a magazine I'd picked up a few weeks ago on architecture in coastal New England homes. I neither have a coastal New England home nor a limitless architectural budget, but I wouldn't object to having one or both sometime in my life. The real reason the magazine distracted me this morning, though, is because the cooler weather (oh, please, please stay! I want to be wearing down vests and scarves and my clogs again!) is giving me the urge to rearrange my furniture, to repaint a room or two, to make things new.
Things That I Am All Wavy Hands About
- The Dark Angel pilot. I finally managed to get my hands on Dark Angel Season One, and started watching last night. And there was good writing! There was the balancing of multiple plots! There was not entirely clunky exposition! There was also the classic overdramatic moment, and some missed opportunities for symmetry, but the tension between Max and Logan eclipsed most of that in a wavy hands fervor.
- Gandalf the White in The Two Towers. I watched my way through the three movies this past week, and I'd forgotten how long it had been since I'd seen Gandalf appearing to Aragon, Legolas, and Gimli in Fagorn Forest for the first time as the White Wizard, and later, drawing Sauruman out of the ancient spell-bound King Theoden.
- 1602, which I also finished reading this week, and the inevitable Magneto story I am now compelled to write because of it.
Things That I am Very Mixed Feelings About
- Netflix delivered the Studio Sorkin pilot to me. I don't know that there's an old relationship metaphor extended enough to describe my twin feelings of curiosity and repulsion.
- The commencement of the next Library School semester. I know, I know.

- Orange Mist, Greenfield Pumpkin, Mink Violet.
