It hurts

Jan 13, 2008 13:50

I just took a look at the Dow Jones and it is painful. My short-term losses on the Total Stock Market fund stands at over a thousand dollars. Not quite as verdant as the hundreds it stood positive last year. So, in the tradition of smart investing, I bought more stock in my fund, following the most basic and solid adivce of buy low and sell high. The Dow is just a hair above 12,600. I would be surprised if it dropped more than another 600 this month, although we may be fairly close to the bottom of this slump.

I just closed out the Savings Deposit Program (offered only to deployed soldiers) that guarantees a 10% return annually. And I was on that one like a fat kid on a cupcake. So, I should have those funds liquid soon and those are going straight to the Total Stock Market fund to offset my early losses and hopefully be the bulk of my gains for 2008. I'm fairly positive that 2008 will see the Dow finish out above 13,000. I have faith.
