Review: xxx HOLiC - Ep. 1
I finally saw the first xxx HOLiC episode and I've to say I liked it.
The opening is nice (even if I prefer the Tsubasa Chronicle one) and I liked how it started with Yuko's words (I do wonder if they'll keep it up for all the series or not...).
The episode follows the manga storyline at the beginning with Watanuki ending up in Yuko's shop and being forced to work for her... (poor boy).
I find Watanuki hilarious in here and Maro and Moro adorable (I love their coruses!). Yuko isn't as seductive as I wanted her to be but maybe that's just me.
I don't particularly like the introduction of black Mokona... he just shows up in the treasure room... but I guess it couldn't be helped. Mokona's appariction in the manga was tied to the Tsubasa Chronicles part but in the anime series they might have chosen to cut the connection...
Then there's a new story we didn't saw in the manga!
Watanuki meets a girl who says she sees spirits. She doesn't in truth however when Watanuki incidentally touches her she gets possessed by the spirit that was tormenting Watanuki.
I liked Yuko's speech afterward about everyone being free to wish for something, good or bad and Watanuki's disapprobation because, even if he wanted to be free from the spirit he didn't want to pass it to another...
ending with Mokona is cute.
For JJ's colour obsession taste I'll say there was a bit too much of brown and red and very little blue or shining colour... to me even the sky seemed pale... but that might again be just me... Anyway I truly enjoied it!
