and her face at first just ghostly turned a whiter shade of pale

My initial reaction to House playing 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' on the organ was to yell yes on the top of my lungs. I mean, regardless of whether what kind of piano you play it on, it's pretty fun. Anyway, that got me thinking to the different covers I've heard of the song and there were two that stuck out to me the most. And the best part? They're YouTube musicians. The trouble is, though, that both are so good that I can't choose which is my favorite. They both take different approaches to the same song - which I absolutely love.

So, let's get started, lol.

i. Sungha Jung's acoustic guitar cover
What do you guys know about Sungha Jung? He's a 13 year old South Korean who is absolutely amazing at guitar - mainly fingerpicking. I mean, this kid... when I first heard him about three years ago, I was just blown away by his talent.

Anyway, his cover... I'd say it's more peaceful, something you'd hear on one of those relaxation CDs... does that make sense? I mean, it's beautiful, it really is. I usually listen to him every once in a while, but this cover - compared to all his other ones - it really just made me stop and listen. That could be because I genuinely love the song originally - I remember first hearing it while I read 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower' - but that's another story. Back to Sungha's cover, I mean, it kind of just captures my attention and refuses to let go. It's positive and upbeat which throws me off with the lyrics of the song.

ii. Narciso Lobo's ukulele cover
Why I love this cover: other than the fact it's beautiful? It's absolutely haunting. There really is no other way to put it. But I mean it in the best way. It's so hauntingly beautiful and captures the emotion of the song perfectly. It's completely different from Sungha's cover; I wouldn't call Lobo's cover desolate, but it certainly isn't upbeat. It's heart-wrenching and bittersweet and aching and I just love it so. It's a cover I'd listen to many times because it's lovely.
