NaNo 2011: First Excerpt

Nov 06, 2011 22:02

Just thought this was amusing:

“Oh, please, Ella. That,” she paused, chewed her lip, “unfortunate incident happened all the way back in the 20s. It’s not like it happened a week ago. Plenty of people have lived in this house since then.”

“Not according to the kids I met today. Noelle said it’s been shut-up since she can remember.”

Her mom scoffed. “Yes, and I’m sure Noelle, a girl you’ve known for all of five hours is more trustworthy than your mother, the woman who raised you. The woman who gave birth to you after seven hours of labor.”

“Oh my god, mom. Seriously.” Ella has heard this story of her long and agonizing birth about twenty billion times since she was born, and figures she’ll keep hearing it until her mom’s on her death bed. Her mom’s last words will probably be, ‘seven hours, Ella. Seven.’

Perfect Mom voice. My mom does the same thing to me. :)

Is anyone else participating in NaNo this year? A couple people I follow on Tumblr are, but I'm on a Tumblr hiatus, because the Glee spoilers are out-of-fucking-control, holy shit.
