SakuraWatch 2011 Update 2

Feb 09, 2011 18:04

SakuraWatch is now on Facebook! Join the group! And force your "friends" to join against their will!

The sakura are moving right along for an early appearance this year!
Most of the trees have green buds, and more than a few buds have some pink pushing forth. As you'll see in these pictures, there are also a few blossoms making an early appearance.

Consider this your warning to get your coswork into gear!
Afroduck is ready, shouldn't you be ready too?

Afroduck and his aquatic buddy, Balance Bird!

As you can see on this map, I've broken the SakuraWatch down into five zones.
This year, I will be focusing on only four of these zones:

1: along the west side of the lake
3: north of the entrance, by the dirt lot
4: south of the entrance, on the grassy knoll
5: the west side of the peninsula that extends into the lake

Zone 1: Lakeside

These pics start at the south end and progress north.

As you can see in these first few pics, even the new trees planted last year are getting in on the act. A lot of green buds pushing forth.

There is even some pink showing.

One of the new trees even had a couple of flowers.

The older trees had a lot of green buds, some with pink erupting.

Of course, there are always some stragglers who wake up late.

Zone 3: North of Entrance

Here, the older trees (closest to the paved path by the dirt lot) were the most developed.

The smaller trees up the rise had fewer flowers and pinkish buds, with most of their buds still green.

Zone 4: Grassy Knoll

Zone 5: Peninsula

Again, lots of green buds, some with pink, and sporadic flowers.

Here's a look at the bamboo grove.
