kerravonsen just tagged me for this, so I thought I'd give it a go:
Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.
A Wings's Shadow [Highlander] is the first historical fic I ever wrote (half a decade ago) and I wrote it before I even knew such a thing as LJ existed, so this is a link to my website. It features Methos and Amanda in Renaissance Italy, with a guest appearance by Ramirez and Kronos on the rampage. It's set in the same universe as
Hamlet's Ghost but it can be read as a standalone.(wordcount; 9,000 approx) I'm reccing this because I'm still proud of it!
~~~*~~*~~*~~~~
And Three makes Trouble [Highlander] It's a lighthearted ficlet I wrote last year, featuring Duncan, Amanda and Methos. I like the way I portray Duncan in this tale. I think this is one of the few times I hit the nail on the head, and it's warm and fuzzy, which I don't write enought of! (wordcount; 1,000 approx)
~~~*~~*~~*~~~~
Lifelines [Doctor Who/Terminator] This features Martha Jones and Derek Reese on a road trip across America, doing their best to dodge the Master and his cronies while saving the world, one convert at a time :-P There may have been something funny in my tea when I dreamed that one up, but I still love this story, as I feel it has a good, interesting plot. (wordcount 23,000 approx)
~~~*~~*~~*~~~~
Five Times Methos Met Jack Harkness While on Vacation [Doctor WHo/Torchwood/Highlander] Yes, it's crack, but I'm still proud of some of the lines I came up with...and in my brain, this is totally canon - honest! (wordcount: 2,539)
~~~*~~*~~*~~~~
Planar Flight [Doctor Who] I discovered, while writing this fic, that I have a secret love for Eight/Martha even more so than Martha/Ten - shhh, don't tell anyone and the idea of Martha and Eight running around together, hand in hand, makes me grin... and I really should be writing more Martha/Eight, shouldn't I? (wordcount 12,000 approx)
And now the tagfest! Hmmm.... I tag
ithildyn,
idontlikegravy,
silly_cleo,
wizefics and
calapine! Now, don't you just all feel loved :-P
Also, as it happens, I've just finished reccing on
calufrax (Doctor Who reccing comm) today so I'll share those recs with you too!
Story:
Into Cool Night (Rescued from Rainy Dawn)Author:
eponymous_roseWordcount: 1301
Rating: All ages
Author's Summary: The timelines converge, even now. Donna laughs at the end of the storm.
Characters/Pairings: Donna Noble, The Doctor (8th)
Recced because: This is probably my favourite post JE Donna story. She may not remember, but she sees the wonder in a sunset and is still helping the Doctor to see the bigger picture.
(recced this on my LJ before, but twice won't hurt!)
Story:
Making Time (Lords)Author:
calapineWordcount: 1477
Rating: Teen (For Language)
Author's Summary: The pocket watch has to die. (A Withnail & I crossover)
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (8th), The Doctor (Webcast 9th)
Recced because: I have always suspected that there was something...suspect... about Marwood and Withnail. This amusing little crossover explains all. Pass me the port.
Story:
Mr. and Mrs. Smith or Happy Who-loweenAuthor:
philyraWordcount: 2,759
Rating: Teen - Swearing - Het, Humor
Author's Summary: After "Journey's End" we were all left with only the hope that Rose and 10.2 would make it work and live happily ever after. But what if they just couldn't?
Characters/Pairings: Rose Tyler, The Doctor (Duplicate 10th)
Recced because: In a post Journey's End world, there are a million and one stories out there portraying Handy as an extension of Rose, complete with happy ending...This is actually not one of those stories. It turns out that warring with Rose bears a startling similarity to the War of the Roses, and the question ceases to be will they/won't they and becomes, instead, will they survive? Oh, and I'd recommend not having any hot liquids within the vicinity when you read this.
Story:
Tea Time Terror for Time Tots Author:
Branwyn on teaspoon,
cesario on LJ
Wordcount: 2,133
Rating: All ages
Author's Summary: The Doctor writes an instructive book for children.
Characters/Pairings: The Doctor (7th)
Recced because: Amusing and sweet, and a little bit sad; Seven's acerbic nature and wit really shines through in this story. A beautiful piece of writing.
Story:
In a World She Never MadeAuthor:
biichanWordcount: 1,525
Rating: All ages
Author's Summary: Stranded in the twentieth-first century, nearly eighty years after she ought to have died, Charley Pollard begins to make a new life for herself. (Big Finish/Torchwood crossover)
Characters/Pairings: Charley Pollard, Gwen Cooper, Ianto Jones, Jack Harkness, OC Andy Davidson, Polly Wright, The DOctor (8th), Other Characters.
Recced because: It's so rare to find good characterisation for Charley, so I was delighted to stumble across this little gem. It charts Charley's slow tranformation into a citizen of the 21st century, and it's beautifully done, with just the right amount of bittersweet.
Story:
The Devil You KnowAuthor:
lizbeeWordcount: 1,828
Rating: Teen
Author's Summary: Romana sees the Time War at close range.
Characters/Pairings: Leela/Romana II/The Doctor (8th)
Recced because: I have a severe weakness for Time War fic, especially when it involves Romana - throw in Eight and Leela, and it becomes a very special tale indeed. This is a tender portrayal of their intertwining relationships - and it has a delicious twist at the end.
Story:
WhitsundayAuthor:
liviiWordcount: 1,136
Rating: All Ages - Femslash
Author's Summary: There's a woman with a motorcycle waiting to ferry her home.
Characters/Pairings: Ace McShane/Tegan Jovanka
Recced because: Seriously, I have to answer this? This story has one of the most marvelous descriptions of Ace I've ever read, and the imagery in general is just delicious. Go read!

And three, four, five stories that I got beaten to, in terms of reccing:
A Moments's Grace by
cesario Martha meets Two during the Year That Wasn't. A lovely story
----
The Sacred Art of Stealing by
netgirl_y2k Ten tries to nick Sarah Jane's Companions - opening lines:
The Doctor bounced around Sarah Jane's attic. She really wished he wouldn't, there was a lot of sensitive equipment in here.
"Brilliant! Look at them, they're brilliant! Pre-trained humans!"
Says it all, really :-P
----
A Phantom of Clouds [ by doyle] is story set during season one, with Nine, Rose and Jack - in it, these three are still getting to know each other and bond, and Nine opens up... I miss Nine.
----
50 ways to propse to your non-lover by
aces Eight is bored, decides to get married, shenanigans ensue!
----
Seven Words and a Metaphor by
lizbee Romana and Eight dancing. Nuff said, really.
And this post may have got a wee bit out of control....
I'll shut up now...
...honest
